Cabin Fever

We are surviving the chicken pox well.  Sydney has a dozen or so new little spots as of this weekend, but still doesn't itch or feel bad in any way.  John has a good three dozen spots, itches, but responds well to Caladryl and is otherwise fine.

What is difficult during this time is the cabin fever.  In large part because of my own stir craziness upon being in the house too many days in a row, my kids haven't been stuck in the house this long since they were newborns.

During the work week, Jeremy is working from home and gets through the days with a lot of PBS, My Little Pony, sending the kids out to the backyard, and then just letting them play on their own in the playroom.  For the weekend, though, I was home and had more time to help them come up with new projects.  Jeremy took himself out of the house to have some down time and I helped the kids turn the playroom into a mini-village.

We used everything we could find... the pony castle, the Calico Critters house, the Sweet Streets, the Imaginext toys, the train table, hot wheels, and even some cardboard castles.

Sydney took her Canterlot cardboard castle and her big wooden pony castle and put them around the ottoman.  The ottoman has a green towel for a grassy field.  The top of the wooden desk is another castle.

 

The nature preserve on Sydney's green "buh" (her special blanket).  The old hotel is also on the nature preserve.

And who has taken over the old hotel?

And we see that the Riddler and Cat Woman are prowling around town.

 

The pony carriage also drives around town.

 

I felt like the kids needed something exciting to make the day go by faster and easier.  And honestly, all of the different houses, castles, and buildings had been asking for something like this for a long time.
