Sydney has had many, many, many imaginary friends in the past year or two, but almost all of them have been television or movie characters that she has brought to life in her mind. The Toy Story characters, for example, are often out and need a lift in our car. Alice visits from the television (or the other side of the looking glass, depending) and Super Why is always around to help solve a problem.
The friends that Sydney has truly made up herself are Vizzy and Gosher. Vizzy is a large winged dragon with a long tail. Gosher is very small and has spikes all over himself, but like a cat's claws, the spikes are retractable (her actual words were "they can go inside himself).
Vizzy carries Gosher around on her tail as Gosher is too small to fly anywhere himself. If you like, you can hold Gosher, but unless he has brought his spikes inside himself, he will poke you.
Today we saw Vizzy flying next to our car with Gosher on her tail. We were on our way to school and I guess Vizzy and Gosher wanted to come, too.
I asked Sydney how Vizzy and Gosher liked school and it turned out that Gosher got sick at school and Vizzy had to take him home (something strikingly similar happened Monday when Jeremy had to go pick up a sick Jack). Vizzy wanted to go back to school, though, so she dropped Gosher off at his other home where his grandpa and nana live. They could take care of him so that Vizzy could go back to school.
The continued adventures of Vizzy and Gosher are very exciting to me. I love hearing Sydney talk about her imaginary friends. She makes them sound so real. I also know that she knows having something that she is a total expert on. Neither Jeremy nor I knew anything about how Gosher's spikes worked, for example, until Sydney told us.
