Vacation

This past weekend, we went to San Antonio, Texas and enjoyed trips to Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld.


Although Sydney couldn't ride most of the rides (apparently 36 inches is a minimum for even the baby rollercoaster), she could ride the carousel, which she loved. Here she is shaking the pole, trying to get the ostrich to go already.

Sydney also loved all of the water fountains (we found three in our trip around the park). There was one with a low ledge and she actually had her foot in the water before I could grab her.

Her other favorite was watching the rapids for the ride where everyone sits in a circular boat (I forget the name). She stood and watched each boat go by, very intently. In between boats, she just watched the water.

SeaWorld also had a big fountain and we were lucky to get this picture of her looking at the camera and not at the water.

Jeremy and Sydney rode a couple of rides at SeaWorld. As it turns out, SeaWorld actually has more toddler-friendly rides and activities than Six Flags. Who knew?

I couldn't believe that Sydney could climb this rope structure. That's my little monkey. She made it almost all the way to her dad before she started sliding back down.

We all loved looking at the dolphins. Sydney had a very hard time following the "lay on the side of the wall" rule. She wanted to get in there with those "fish." And, yes, we did explain to her that they are mammals. She continued to call them "fish." We'll work on that some more later.

My very favorite part, though, was going to the water park portion (no water safe camera = no water pictures). We played in the wave pool and in the kids' section for over an hour, and then we got in the lazy river and Sydney fell asleep on me while I was riding in an inner tube. There were several sections of the river with water jets, so Jeremy navigated our tube around those in a way that no water sprayed on Sydney, allowing her to sleep. There is nothing like holding your sleeping baby while your husband "protects" the two of you from harm to make you feel a primal love of family. After thirty to forty minutes in the water, we were worried about sunburns and got out of the river where Sydney continued her nap first on me and then on this lounger, this time protected from the sun by my hat and a towel.

Overall, a great mini-vacation for all three of us.
