There are A LOT of festivals and special events in the spring in our area, and the Red Poppy will always have a special place in my heart because it is quintessential Georgetown, but the one that we all find to be the most fun is the Pioneer Festival.
All sorts of folks from all over come down to Old Settler's Park and demonstrate all kinds of pre-1850's skills and specialties. We went last year and loved it and this year we brought the Hazen's along.
Peter and Sydney got to color some shapes that the woodcarvers had made.
They also got to wash and hang up clothes to dry.
As with last year, the one room school house was a hit as well.It appeals to the historian in me to not only learn more about the past, but to share the lessons of the past with my kids. Because, after all, you can't appreciate the future and how far you can go until you understand the past and how far you've already come.
We had so much fun! Thanks for inviting us!!!
