Saturday was official "take back the science lab" day at school.
Well, actually, the science committee was just in charge of organizing the lab and while our principal made it clear that she could find time on a work day and involve the entire staff, it really was one of those things that was best done by a handful of invested individuals and because we are invested, we wanted it done sooner rather than later, and so a Saturday was chose and we went.
I had the kids with me, so they spent the morning occupying themselves in the lab (which is really just a portable) and then the afternoon playing in my classroom. Sydney said it was, quote, "The Best Day Ever!"
There was an absurd number of balloons in the lab. I know there are many things you can use balloons to show, but I think a giant tub full of them is a bit much. But Sydney and Jack enjoyed playing with them.
Kindergarten is studying motion this week, so there were some really fun toys in the lab for the kids to play with.
Sydney got into the TinkerToys quite a bit.
Back in my room, Sydney played with the new nurse's boys (two of whom are in Sydney's Sunday school class) while her brother started his nap. Once John was asleep, Sydney got to watch a movie in my room. After he woke up, they both played for another hour or so.
All in, we spent seven hours at school and at the end, when I announced it was time to go, Sydney still asked, "Can we stay and keep playing for like twenty more minutes?"
